  • Nature and extent of Injury, including whether any permanent injury exists
  • Amount of reasonable and necessary medical bills
  • Length of reasonable and necessary medical treatment
  • Lost Wages
  • Future medical bills and lost wages
  • Having an experienced personal injury attorney represent you
  •

Question: How long will my case take to settle?

Answer: Usually 3 months after you are done treating. Once you have completed treatment, it is important to notify a member of your personal injury team. Your team will then request all your medical records and prepare a demand package for the insurance company. Shortly thereafter, your case will be negotiated. If a fair settlement cannot be timely reached, we will file a lawsuit on your behalf.

Question: How long should I get treatment for?

Answer: For as long as it takes you to heal from your injuries. Your doctor will usually let you know when you have reached maximum medical improvement.

Question: Should I be evaluated by a doctor following an accident?

Answer: Absolutely. If your injuries are severe, go to the emergency room. If you are unsure, you still should get evaluated. Some injuries go undetected for days to weeks and you can be hurt worse than you realize. Having a medical professional assess your condition is always a prudent choice.

Question: Should I purchase PIP protection on my auto policy?

Answer: Yes. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is usually less than $10.00 per month and allows you to treat with most any provider. Benefits are paid promptly.

Question: Should I purchase UIM on my auto policy?

Answer: Yes. Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM) protects you and your property when the at fault party has no insurance. Again the cost is small compared to the risk and future costs of being hit by an uninsured motorist.

Question: I was injured in an accident that was not my fault and I have no insurance. What can I do?

Answer: You should hire a personal injury attorney. Your attorney will help you secure treatment from a health care facility that allows treatment for third party claims when an attorney is involved so they can lien your case. That means the medical provider will get paid when your insurance claim settles.

Question: What if I was hit from behind and I then hit the car in front of me? Do I have any fault?

Answer: No. So long as you did not hit the front car first, you are 100% not at fault.

    Question: What is subrogation?

Answer: Subrogation is a right of reimbursement. When some form of insurance pays for your medical bills, they have a right to be reimbursed by the negligent party. Thus, even when all your medical bills have been paid by insurance, when you settle your third party case, you must pay the insurance company back.

Question: If i use PIP, will my insurance drop me?

Answer: No. Personal Injury Protection coverage pays out initially but is later reimbursed from the negligent party's insurance.
